It’s in His Kiss-“Playful, platonic, passionate, or parental, kisses transmit a surprising amount of information. In fact, they even play an evolutionary role in fertility. ”

Bleeding During Pregnancy-“Vaginal bleeding can occur frequently in the first trimester of pregnancy and may not be a sign of problems. But bleeding that occurs in the second and third trimester of pregnancy can often be a sign of a possible complication.”

Kick Counts-“Popcorn popping. A little fish swimming. Bubbles. Butterflies. Tickles. These are common words used by women to describe their baby’s first movements. Also known as “quickening”, it’s a reassuring sign that your baby is OK and growing.”

Why Would I Want to be Photographed Pregnant?: “Taking photographs of your growing belly is a lovely way to capture this miraculous moment in time. Often we feel unattractive. My aim is to connect you to the beauty of being pregnant. It won’t be like this forever, and it can be a fun way to explore your ever so quickly changing shape.”

Physical Discomforts After Delivery: “Lots of things are happening in your body right after you have a baby. Now that your baby is here, you’re probably feeling some pain or discomfort. Here’s what you can expect.”

Congratulations to Bethenny Frankel and fiancee Jason Hoppy, on the news that they are expecting their first child!  While Bethenny was forced to confirm her pregnancy earlier than she would have liked by the press, the reality show star tweeted confirmed the pregnancy was a reality earlier this week.

Frankel is one of the stars of The Real Housewives of New York, and will be starring in her own show on Bravo.  The Natural Food Chef also has a best-selling book, Naturally Thin. That’s one busy mama-to-be!

Project Runway host and Victoria’s Secret model Heidi Klum welcomed her fourth child, third with husband Seal. Lou Sulola Samuel was born late last week. Klum took on Seal’s last name, Samuel, a week before giving birth. Lou joins sister Leni, 5, and brothers Henry, 4, and Johan, 3.

October is breast cancer awareness month, and while there is such a thing as too much pink, that doesn’t apply in this case! We’re thrilled to see so many corporations and individuals taking part in increasing awareness and early detection of breast cancer. You can tell it’s taken hold, because you can now buy everything from a pink Wusthof knife to a wig donation for a woman with cancer.

Even the men in my husband’s office are wearing pink shirts on Monday to honor friends, wives & mothers living with breast cancer everywhere.

You can support awareness too, and there are countless ways to participate – something for everyone.

And don’t forget to perform a breast self-check exam each month.  Here’s to keeping “the girls” happy & healthy!

Remembering Scarlet: “Somewhere between the dozens of recipes I’ve printed out but never tried and the numerous To Do lists, I came across something I didn’t even remember having. It was dated January 22, 2008 and it was the first and only sonogram picture from when I was 6 weeks pregnant with my little bean – one of the two that didn’t make it.”

Perineal Massage: Make Room for Baby: “Not the kind of massage you’ll find in your average spa, perineal massage is reputed to help to stretch the vaginal tissues the same way that your baby’s head will during birth, only in a gentler and more controlled way.”

Preterm Labor: What Dad Can Do: “Preterm labor is labor that occurs before the 37th completed week of pregnancy. (Most pregnancies last 38-42 weeks; your partner’s due date is 40 weeks after the first day of her last menstrual period.)”
